GEOCACHING GUIDE

If you already know what geocaching is, Then just skip down to our site's geocaching walkthrough

GEOCACING BASICS

Geocaching is a worldwide game of tresurehunting. The treasures being the caches. All over the world are little (or big) boxes called caches in which there are many items: toys, money, games, anything. To find these cahes, what you have to do is go on your computer to http://www.geocaching.com/, and create an account. Once you have set up your account, go to the Hide and seek a cache, and type in your address(recommended because has most specific location.), Zip code, state, country, or city, and type go. you will see several geocaches, in order of distance from the place you entered. pick the one you like, and click on it. A little paragraph about the location of the cache will be provided. make sure you read it.  Tere will also be coordinates. very specific coordinates. enter these coordinates in a GPS or Iphone, And then go find the cache. Caches are usually pretty small, so be careful when you look. when you find the geocache, open it and first find the log. the log is any paper, well, log. big or small. put your name and the date in the log, then put it back like you found it in the box. What you can also do is take something out, and put something of greater or equal value back in. Then close the cache, and put it back where you found it! that covers the basics!

Geocachin'

If you see this card in a geocache, Then Jimbob and/or Rubrick have geocached there!

Now here is our first cache walkthrough!

CELEBRATION TRAVEL BUG HOTEL

Ok! Lets get started. The first geocash we are going to show you and talk about is called Celebration travel bug hotel. It is a regular sized cache. about the size of a food container you would put in a lunch box. maybe a bit bigger. its cache number is GC1NA12. its terrain and diffuclty are both 2 stars. A great cache for beginning geocachers. For now ill insert a bunch of pictures of the location and the geocache, and i'll try to get a video in later.

All right, the picture above is one of the geocache. it is in a dent in a bridge that leads down to the conservation park  at the back of spring park loop. Make sure you check every dent in the bridge.
As you follow the nature trail, you will find a two paths in front of you, take the one to the left. Once you get to the first bridge, get on it and follow it. You will then see the second bridge. get off your bike and the geocache is right there under the bridge.
You can see Rubrick under the beginning of the bridge with the geocache getting the cache. There is a lake to your right if you are facing the lake, and the highway in front.

CENTRAL BARK

This geocache is a two stars difficulty and one star terrain. It is located in the 'central bark park' In Celebration. Where Pawstand road and Banks rose street meet. You will see a rocking chair near the woods. to your left (facing the woods) you will see two short, fat logs on top of one another. And they should only be about a foot in the woods. Once you find the logs, the top one will be hollowed out. Put your hand in there, and you we feel a small box... A geocache! This one is pretty small, though.
If you are at the right park in celebration, you should see this sign. It just says Central Bark. remember that this park is super tiny, and truthfully kinda bland...
This is a picture of the geocache. It is again small, but since it is fairly new, there is some sweet stuff in there!

Now how about a helpful litlle video!

Well that wraps up that geocache!

WEST END CACHE

Ok, this cache is pretty far from the rest of the geocaches, but it is easy to find, big, and on the way their you will see a lot of celebration's beautiful trails. it is a 2 difficulty one terrain, but I personally think it is is the easiest cache in celebration! It is right by a lake to the left of Celebration Blvd. The lake is very close to where World drive meets Celebration Blvd. But a shortcut is to go through the trails from Artisan Park, because it leads right to the lake. So first find the bridge that leads towards the High school at the back of Artisan park. If it is the right bridge, then you should see these two buildings at the end of it:
If you do, take a right until you see the next bridge. the next bridge is pretty long, but taake it anyway. at the end of it, you will see a very short paved path. to the right and left of that paved path are two marshes. They hould look like this:

There is a bridge up ahead again take it. at the end of it, you will see the lake. under the brdige is the geocache, look at the video below to see exactly where it is.

Ok! that is it for west end cache!

FROM THE BADLANDS TO THE SWAMPLANDS

This geocache is one of the hardest caches to find in all of Celebration. without a Gps and coordinates, you will have a tough time, but me and Rubrick did it. It is 2 stars difficulty and 2 stars terrain, but it should be more. A fun challenge at the end of the day
This cache, like 'celebration travel bug hotel' Is located behind the sundial, is the in conservation park behind Spring park loop. once you get to the geocache 'celebration travel bug hotel', go to end of the bridge, then take a left, you should see a strip of white sand where you take the left turn. When you see  a huge, long lake (which some people in Celebration call Creepy Tree Lake because of one specific tall dead tree), take a right on the side closest to you, then just keep on biking until you see this to your right,

Sorry about this picture's blurriness. But there will be a little trail as you bike. with a bunch of tall grasses further down it, and pre trampled tall grass in front of you (a sure sign of previous geocachers) just start walking forward, about 7 feet deep into the trail. The look to your to left,
And you should be seeing these two trees above. You are almost there. Just ditch your bike, and go to the second skinnier tree.
Now, if you look to  the base of the tree, you should find the geocache! In this picture, Rubrick and I uncovered it, but when YOU go, you will have to do a little diggin' through the dead leaves and pine needles and branches and just about everything to find it. But this Geocache is pretty big, so it shouldn't be too hard! Happy hunting!

Oh, wait, let me put a video here. It will help you like crazy!

DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE

This is just a video of geocache down the rabbit hole. It is two and a half stars difficulty and three stars terrain, its cache number is GC2Q4QF. This cache is located off of the nature trail that leads downtown. go to the nature trail behind the corpus christ church, go straight down to Eastlawn. when you see the bridge above the big river go across it and take a left. Then keep on going forward. To your left, as you come to the next tiny bridge, you will see a strip of healthy green grass, where the  the video will explain the rest.
make sure you turn your sound up. Have fun!

OFF THE BEATEN PATH

Ok this cache is rather hard to find. It is a 1 and a half star difficulty and 3 and a half star terrain.
Underneath is a picture of its location on google earth. I also drew a black path.
You will see how small the cache is, so you will need to pay even more attantion to it because of that
Behind spring park loop in Celebration Florida is the perfect-for-geocaching Celebration conservation park. This where not only 'off the beaten path' is hidden, but also 'from the badlands to the swamplands' and 'celebration travel bug hotel!' So here are the directions to find the cache.
Go to the nature trail leading to the celebration conservation park. Go to the first bridge, just go across it. you should see a pond and the celebration blvd behind it. Just go on to the second bridge (the one with Celebration travel bug hotel under it) after you are done with the second bride, take a left onto the strip of white sand. then go forward until you see a small lake (creepy tree lake) take a right so that the lake is to your left (from the badlands to the swamplands should be somewhere to your right) go forward, and you should see a bunch of tall grasses and thin branches, There is a kind of "wall" of grasses, branches and trees, but to the left, there is a path, follow this path. The collor of the ground should be about dark brown like this but as you go further on that path (there is a lake to your left, by the way) there will be a little patch of white sand this color that you should notice, but pass. then you will see a second similar patch of white sand. stop your bike here, and look towards the lake. there should be several trees near the lake that are close to the patch of sand. One of these trees has not as many leaves as the other. at the back of this tree four feet of the ground, is a geocache strapped to a leafless branche. The branch is very short, and facing right towards the lake. The cache is uite small, so  it does not have much in it, but you will feel so nice finding the ache that it will be worth it. Now lets put that all in a video to explain all that

Travel bugs are a big part of geocaching. what they are is little metal necklaces with the actual travel bug attached to it. This is what it looks like:
Here are the travel bugs Rubrick and I had at the time this picture was taken.

6 travel bugs. Yep. But not for long. Jimbob is going to Siesta beach soon, so he'll drop 4 off over there.
Every now and then you will find them in a geocache. if you trade for it and you get one, go home and log the little code on the travel bug onto your computer. Then the travel bug will say it 'wants' to go somewhere, like this  travel bug wanted to go to Paris. Also, the Travel bug comes with a random toy, this one came with a Superman figurine,
But there is a whole lot more to travel bugs. Travel bugs can also come with a mission.

Sorry if you can't read it well. It basically says its goal is to touch each of the continents. So, Since Jimbob and Rubrick will not be going to another continent anytime soon, I will put it in Box In Central Bark for someone else to take.

Also, some travel bugs are actually 'travel racers'.

This means it wants to go somewhere FAST. Like the one in the photo above just wants to go west. so since I found it in Celebration, I'm going to drop it off in Siesta key! (that's west..)

Some travel bugs have a little hint about where to take them next to.
That travel bug wanted to go to the beach. And guess what? Siesta key IS on the beach! So that is just where I'll take it. That little hint could be anything. I've seen one say, 'The big apple', which probably meant New york, and another said 'I love the down undah', and that one was obvious...

The last kind of special geocache thing We have found is, our most valuable found travel bug yet

A Travel bug cache! This geocache looks pretty normal on the outside, but look below...

And what is that little piece of  paper

It's a log inside a travel bug! So you need to put your name and the date you found this! thank you!
So That just about covered everything on travel bugs! all travel bugs We find from now on will be posted on the side of this website. Thank you!

So keep an eye for 'em travel bugs!

More caches coming soon!
